One Book One Bozeman Welcomes Jamie Ford
Country Bookshelf is excited to bring you an evening with Jamie Ford, New York Times bestselling author of this year’s One Book One Bozeman selection, Love and Other Consolation Prizes. Set against the Victorian backdrop of the 1909 Yukon-Pacific World’s Fair, Love and Other Consolation Prizes tells the story of a young man trafficked from China and raffled at the fair to a notorious brothel.
This book has already been the cornerstone of some great discussions around Bozeman: beginning with a panel discussion at the library about Cupid’s Disease and the role it played in the book, in history, and locally in the town of Bozeman. MSU Wonderlust sponsored a heavy and enlightening Friday Forum on the history, and current affairs surrounding human trafficking. And MSU history professor Bob Rydell illuminated the history of world’s fairs, and their place in our culture, for a cozy crowd at Country Bookshelf.
It is with great anticipation that we welcome the author of this much buzzed book to Country Bookshelf to share his insights into the story with our community. Join us on Tuesday, February 26th at 6:30pm for a brief reading, followed by a Q&A and signing. Check out this LINK for more details on all the One Book One Bozeman happenings
